Don’t believe it..

I love the ads by Halliburton. They make it seem like they are such a great and noble company. I think they are pure evil. I think everyone knows it. Lets add it up simply….

Vice Presdient Dick Cheney is a former Halliburton CEO (who still owns a major amount of shares in the company)

Halliburton won (HAH) the contract to drill Iraq for oil after collapse of local goverement which formerly didn’t comply with Halliburton’s requests to sell its oil.

Iraq, a country in the news a lot because we feel lied to over why exactly we went to war with them. Now it turns out that we went to war with under a pretense that turned out to be false.

Just those facts alone are anough to make me say “WTF?”

Note: It’s good to note that I’m not one of the most politicly active people out there. I like to write code and remain as nuetral as possible. BUT you only get so many “WTF’s” in my book, and when you pass that limit and I have to be very annoyed… Might as well get with the gang and speak up and call George Bush a money gobing whore of a President that wouldn’t know what middle class or poverty was if it crawled up his arse and decided to live there. Don’t let him screw up S.S. please. I make good money myself and S.S. doesn’t really affect me to much(now) (so I guess that qualifies me for the president’s party) but my entire family’s long term plans have S.S. in there to fill in the gap, and why shouldn’t it. It all makes me sick and I get tired of talking about. Lets just end it please!!!!!

This is the first time I have ever publicly voiced an opinion except to some of my very close friends. What I’m getting at is that if I’m willing to break my vow of silence that has been sheilding me from offending anyone with other opinions. If you have a problem with what I said, leave me a comment. I’m so angry now that I’m willing to fly out and try to talk some common sense into you (and blog my trip and my mission) and if that fails, I’m willing to beat you senseless (you think I’m kidding but think of the hits I will get either way when I show the tape). I’m tired of being passive on this issue now..

HELLO! FROM PLANET EARTH - PEOPLE!!!

  1. I guess you should come to Chicago and visit me, then. The entire point of Bush’s Social Security plan is to fix it for people who don’t make as much money as you or I do. When Gore ran for president, he proclaimed that Social Security needed reform and if untouched it would become bankrupt. That was Gore, who’s just about as Democrat as you can get. So how come now it’s wrong, when a Republican is saying it? I respect that you care about the rest of your family who don’t make as much as you do…so do them a favor and stand up for a partially privated retirement plan, which is what the Congress and the Military have an option to enlist in. Remember, this is an option. *No one* is being required to do privatized Social Secutiy. If you want to stay within the current plan, that’s totally up to you. It just gives people a choice. That’s all. From one programmer to another, I respect you and hope that you can respect the decision to give people a choice. Afterall, isn’t that what we in the OSS community long for?

  2. Amen. It’s hard to look at the facts and not get angry. I first started to pay close attention to politics about a year into Bush’s first term and I’m greatly disturbed by what I see from this administration. Simply appalling. I’m embarrassed to live in a country that, given his track record, brought him back for a second term.

  3. You’ll have to come to Texas to visit me too, then.

You have some facts, but they do not imply any vast conspiracy to me. Although I would disagree that the reasons for war were lies. I assume you were referring to WMD’s when you said “lies”. Most country’s security agency’s believed in them, Saddam’s general’s believed in them. You might argue that Bush was wrong about them - but that’s not a lie. Moreover, I am not convinced that we were wrong about them. Besides, WMD’s were not the only reason to go to war. And Halliburon had nothing to do with it.

As far as SS goes, I really, really want private accounts, I think the current robbery of SS for other purposes is a shame, a disgrace and a scam. I believe personal accounts are a great thing that have been used before and have turned out wonderfully. In Corpus Christie and some surrounding counties, for example.

  4. LOL, Mark. Thats one of the those talking points :-) I love those.. I don’t know if you used it or maybe remembered it, or whatever, but its nearly word for word dude. I never had said my political party and I never will because I love the security of never having to have to tell anyone (however you may or may not be suprised to what political party I’m lean to). I live in Texas myself and grew up in Indiana very close to Chicago.

The deal with Corpous Christie is not as great as it sounds. The lower waged workers filed many a law suit against the city because the system didn’t have the money to give them what they should of got but a former judge and someone who got a ton of money already got over $100,000 a year (and I know that because I was someone who used to live there).

Halliburton has recieved way to many benfits from this war and had some inside play in it. Bush and Chaney have had a long term interest in the reagion as it relates to their own personal income and Halliburton has been key in that. He is seen holding hands with the Prince of Saudia Arabia (not saying anything bad about it because I know it is a cultural thing) but that man is know for some of own international crimes and they may not equal that of saddam hussian, its just as bad.

But, WMDs is what sold this war and they weren’t even mass killers as they thought, it turned out to be bullshit. At the same time North Korea is preparing for testing their brand new nukes but that sort of power is the kind we can nogitate with? Which is worse? WTF? Seriously…

  5. Correct spelling and grammar will make your argument more compelling. Many people will begin to read your post, and will discount your opinion based on the spelling and grammar problems in the post.
